Sculptures at St Mary's Guildhall
Dating back to the 14th century, this is the oldest of Ron’s choices.
Duck inside the entrance archway to the hall and look up to find a gallery of medieval sculpture.
Pride of place is taken by the still crisply carved centre boss of the Coronation of the Virgin.
There’s also a fine Green Man boss, and a boss of a woman's head.
Ron says: "These are all original and probably date from the 1390s when alterations were made to the gatehouse.
"The main structure of the gate dates back to 1340-42 when the hall was first being built.
"Some of the sculptures express the traditional Christian faith of this city's merchants, but others such as the Green Man remind us of other cultures then also in existence."
