A MAN was mugged and left to drown in a Coventry lake, police have revealed.
The 26-year-old was walking near Swanswell Park, Hillfields, when a gang of youths threatened him with a knife and stole valuables.
They then dragged him into the park and bundled him into the lake before running off.
The victim struggled to stay afloat and had to be rescued by passers by.
He was taken to hospital and kept in overnight for observations following the attack at 10.30pm Friday (February 27).
DI Wendy Bailey, based at Little Park Street police station, said: “The offence was a callous act and could easily have resulted in more serious consequences.”
Two youths have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and given police bail pending further enquiries.
Witnesses to, or anyone with information about, the attack is urged to ring 0845 113 5000 and ask to speak to detectives at Little Park Street.
