Best bit: Taking your first step into this tropical oasis, with huge, bright creatures flying all around you
Worst bit: Walking out into the real world and finding it butterfly-free

I don’t know what we expected from the Butterfly Farm but whatever it was, it was blown right out of the water.
These days we’re so used to seeing animals behind glass, or 30ft beyond a cordon and out of reach.
But this tropical oasis brings the creatures as close to you as they want to get.
And there are hundreds of them. And they’re enormous. And bright.
It’s quite simply out of this world.
If bright red, blue and yellow butterflies aren’t enough to impress you, keep your eyes peeled. Eagle-eyed visitors will see huge green iguanas lurking in the background, snacking on the greenery.
There are also giant koi carp – think: Moby Dick.
This is a truly unforgettable experience for children and, we think, very reasonably priced.
Reassuringly, the selection of tarantulas, bird-eating spiders and scorpions are kept behind glass.
