Best bit: The décor, the food, the people – it’s like the setting of a '60s TV sitcom
Worst bit: If you’re up against the clock you may want to leap over the counter and serve yourself

It’s lunchtime.
You could pop into Greggs and get the usual chicken salad sarnie.
Or, you could peruse the sandwich counter at Alma's, and try a Guinness pate seeded roll, a smoked salmon bagel or egg and watercress on a German flute.
If you’re lucky you might find a table (there are only three), if not, you’ll surely find a stool at the counter (like an old fashioned diner) where you can choose a coffee.
Like the sandwich fillings, coffee at Alma’s isn’t a simple affair.
There are more than fifty different beans to choose from at the Java Joe's counter. Pick a coffee-producing country and it’s probably represented.
And if you don’t fancy that, you can take your pick of the teas.
Be warned – this is not exactly fast food. Someone is freshly grinding your coffee beans instead of just pushing a button on a machine so you may have to add a minute or two to your lunchbreak.
But if you wanted the impersonal factory-style production line you’d have gone for the bland chicken sandwich at Greggs.
