SETS and models of Wallace and Gromit are to feature in a free Coventry exhibition.

The Animated Adventures show will give fans the chance to take a peek behind the scenes of the comedy duo’s Curse of the Were-Rabbit movie.

Visitors to The Herbert exhibition will also be shown how to make storyboards, design sets and use computer-generated imagery.

They will even be given the opportunity to create their own animation.

Rosie Addenbrooke, senior exhibitions and events officer said: “This exhibition is a wonderful addition to the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum.

“The original sets from Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit show a fascinating insight into the magic of Wallace and Gromit and the world of animation.

“We've packed the half-term holidays with events to complement this exhibition so it's an excellent and free way to keep the kids entertained.”

In addition to the exhibition, a selection of work from local animators will be shown in Gallery 3.

These include The Animal Book by Second Home Productions, Eyes in the Darkness by Nick Loquens and The Long Knife by Deadcreative Limited.

The film lasts 25 minutes and plays on a loop.

As part of the exhibition the gallery will be hosting extra events including:

  • Between Monday October 26 and Friday October 30 the Stories Though Motion will examine the history of animation

  • On 14 November the animated film The Adventures of Prince Achmed (PG) will be shown at 2pm

  • At 2pm on December 12 the Gallery will show Kirikou and the Sorceress (U) – an animation based on a traditional West African folk tale

Animated Adventures featuring Wallace & Gromit exhibits at The Herbert from 24 October until 17 January.

The gallery is open between 10am and 5.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and between 12noon and 5pm, Sunday to Monday.
