Highlight: eating holiday food on the balcony and feeling you could be on a Greek island
Lowlight: Being looked up and down and then told you can’t come in

We can’t tell you what Browns is like for an evening drink because the bouncer wouldn’t let us in.
Neither would he tell us why.
We can, however, tell you what it’s like during the day.
It’s all wooden finishes, leather sofas and sweeping staircases.
The menu is a cornucopia of quality homemade nosh, with a variety of meat-free dishes that will tickle the tastebuds of veggies and carnivores alike. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable.
During our daytime jaunt we spotted at least one real ale at the bar. There’s a suntrap balcony upstairs for smokers.
