Dinnerladies at The Belgrade
The cast of Dinnerladies in action

A STAGE adaptation of popular TV sitcom Dinnerladies is coming to Coventry.

Coronation Street actors Andrew Dunn and Shobna Gulati reprise the roles of Tony and Anita – parts they played in the original BBC series.

According to two reviews the show is a hit despite the absence of its creator Victoria Wood and award winning actress Julie Walters.

The Bucks Free Press says: “This is cracking comedy at its very best. Love, romance, sex, death, relationships - it’s all part of life’s rich tapestry and it’s all played out here with gut busting hilarity. Don’t miss it.”

And The Eastbourne Herald says: “Devotees of the TV version will split their sides laughing.”

Based upon the second series of the hit BBC sitcom the show follows the reluctant love story of Bren and Tony, originally played by Victoria Wood and Andrew Dunn, as they are egged on by their work colleagues Dolly, Jean, Anita and Twinkle.

Also making frequent appearances in this tumultuous love story are Philippa from Human Resources, secretary Jane and Bren’s truly dreadful mother Petula, played originally by Julie Walters.

Dinnerladies ran for 16 episodes between 1998 and 2000.

The stage adaptation runs at The Belgrade between May 11 and May 16.

Tickets cost between £11.74 and £23.49.
