Last of the Summer Wine to be decanted in Coventry
The comedy trio from The Last of the Summer Wine

TELLY classic The Last of the Summer Wine is heading to The Belgrade.

Series creator Roy Clarke has written a brand new story for a stage adaptation of the world’s longest running sitcom.

Ruth Madoc (Hi-de-Hi, Little Britain) leads a star cast including Tony Adams (Crossroads) and Steven Pinder (Brookside) in the production.

The set features a realistic 'river' and aims to whisk audiences away to the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales.

The actors were cast to both look like the original TV ensemble and perform the unique mannerisms and accents of these characters.

In addition to the old favourites there are new names and faces in this story which allowed the show’s casting director to secure an appearance by one of the Country’s best-loved actresses, Ruth Madoc.

Ruth shot to fame as the irrepressible, love-struck Maplin’s Yellow Coat, Gladys Pugh in the classic BBC comedy, Hi-de-Hi.

She has since toured the country in major musicals including Annie and more recently starred as Daffyd’s understanding mother in the smash hit comedy Little Britain.

Tony Adams is best remembered for his long running role in cult soap, Crossroads, and his role on the West End stage in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Steven Pinder is perhaps still synonymous as the yuppie we loved to hate, Max Farnham in Channel 4’s Brookside.

The show runs from September 21 to September 26.

Tickets are available from the box office on 024 7655 3055 or via The Belgrade website priced from £12 to £24.25.
